In addition to the 24 children who completed Bike Ability in October last year, 6 children from Gentian Class have participated in Bike Ability this term. Well done for all children who took part and showed great skill in riding on the road.
We had lovely afternoon completing a CREST activity for our awards. Today, we were ENGINEERS and SCIENTISTS once again! We were given a brief to help figure out how to put dinosaur bones together. We were given limited resources to try and construct a skeleton that would be free standing on 2 or 4 feet.
Today, we were joined by “I can and I am”. We went on a double decker bus and thought about our own growth mindsets, ways we can ensure we’re looking after our own positive mind, and we baked bread! We had so much fun and were inspired by Anthony and James. When in the classroom, we continued having a creative, well-being focused day with Chinese art activities, and baking German pretzels.
As well as exploring rivers around the world, we have also been exploring different cultures around the world through both stories and our R.E. learning of Hinduism. In D&T, we have been looking at food in different cultures and how these link to the eat well plate. For our home learning, we've been researching different school dinners around the world. Check out the learning from our lead learner this week who has also connected this cooking with our learning of statistics in Maths and representing data in Computing!
We had another lovely afternoon completing a CREST activity for our awards. Today, we were ENGINEERS once again! We were given a brief and a selection of resources to construct a boat. We had to test our boat to see how many marble they would hold; we thought about buoyancy and how this can be achieve in our designs.
We have had great fun researching rivers in the UK as part of our home learning - it has been lovely to see such a lovely variety of different ways that we've chosen to present our research. Check out this piece of home learning:
We had a lovely afternoon completing a CREST activity for our awards. Today, we were ENGINEERS! We were given a brief and a selection of resources to construct our bridge. We had to test our bridge to see how much weight it would hold. What fabulous designs we had!
Today, we celebrated earth day. We first imagined that we were at the Paris Climate Change Conference and debated different reasons for and against making changes for climate change - we were very passionate! We then created posters supporting the theme of 'green' to share on our Twitter account; Majority Audio (a company is trying to be completely carbon neutral) will hopefully now plant 1000 trees on our school's name!
