Outdoor learning is high on our agenda here at the Mill Nursery and Forest School is an integral part of our ethos. Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor education. Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. The main goals of forest school include encouraging curiosity and exploration with all of the senses, empowering children in the natural environment, learning to take care of themselves and each other, encouraging spatial awareness and motor development and building independence and self-esteem in our young children.
The Mill 2015/2016 Forest School programme is available in two groups, one group consisting of pre-school aged children, and one group for children aged 2 and over. A minimum of one Forest school session will be offered in rotation each school term to children during their academic year in nursery.
Forest school will start from week commencing 7th September 2016 and continue during school term time weeks.
