Forest School
Outdoor learning is high on our agenda here at the Mill Nursery and Forest School is an integral part of our ethos. Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor education. Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. The main goals of forest school include encouraging curiosity and exploration with all of the senses, empowering children in the natural environment, learning to take care of themselves and each other, encouraging spatial awareness and motor development and building independence and self-esteem in our young children.
The Mill Nursery Forest School programme is delivered in 3 groups, one group consisting of Pre-school aged children, and one for children aged 2 and over and one for the under 2's. Each child should experience Forest School for at least one term per academic year.
