Mrs Fear (SENCo) has been busy making some additions to the SEN/Inclusion page on the school website. She's put up some videos of her at home, showing you her pets and reading stories. There are also lots of resources for parents about helping children to cope during the lockdown, as well as child-friendly explanations/social stories of the Coronavirus. https://www.stvigorandstjohnschool.co.uk/inclusion-and-send/
In light of COVID-19 and in preparation for the school closure, I have set up an online classroom on https://app.seesaw.me. Miss Craney, in Year 4, has already trialled this for the school and parents and children have found it really easy to access and child friendly. It is a safe, online tool to help teachers communicate and assign tasks to pupils.
In order for children to access the online classroom, I have provided children with a unique password/ QR code. Children can either access Seesaw through a computer or through an app. They can either enter their password by scanning the QR code or through typing their 12 letter code.
Please keep your password safe. If you happen to lose your password during the school closure, please email the school at email@example.com so that I can resend your password.
There is also an option for family members to have an account so that you can see your child’s work. Additionally, unlike the childrens’ accounts, you are able to message me directly to ask any questions you may have about the work I have set.
You can do this by:
Typing in this link:
Choosing your child from the list
Create your account
Once I approve you, you can see content from your child (Seesaw is private; you’ll only see posts created by your child)
You may be aware that the school will also be using Microsoft Teams as an alternative online classroom. Children have been provided with logins for this. I will be putting the same work on both platforms. However, feedback from other parents has suggested that Seesaw is more user friendly and easier for children to access. I do not mean to overwhelm you, but I am keen to find the best way to support your child’s learning. Feel free to choose the platform that works best for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with feedback as to which platform you feel works best. You can contact me through firstname.lastname@example.org or through the Seesaw app.
I realise that this is going to be a challenging time and thank you for bearing with us whilst we find the best solutions.
The children all have access to a maths website called Mathsframe. They are able to access this website both at school and at home. They have all been given the same username and password.
If you have any suggestions for things we can put on this page, please let Miss White know!
