This term, we have read the fable Revontulet. This is the story of the Fire Fox, the creature who creates the Northern lights. We were so inspired by this fable that we decided to re-tell the story using shadow puppets. Everyone worked together to design the puppets, then we split into two groups. The narrators wrote the short story to accompany the show, and the puppet masters had to decide when each puppet should be on the screen. We had great fun performing this at The Forum, and we're particularly proud of our coloured shadows!
Trip to The Forum, Bath
We have learnt about how light is reflected to keep us safe. Today, we made some reflective patches to keep us safe in the dark!
Before we can make our shadow puppets, we need to find out which material blocks light the best!
We have been exploring light and shadows as part of our quest "Why is light so important to our lives?" This artwork was inspired by what we have learnt so far and by the book Flashlight by Lizi Boyde
Here we are performing the stone age senses poems we have written!

Stone Age Day
In PSHE we thought about some powerful words to motivate us this year. We worked in groups to turn the words into artwork.
Our 'wow wall' displays work we're really proud of. Currently on our wow wall you'll find some jade masks made with pastel on card.
In maths, we've been working on place value. We're getting good at working with numbers up to 1000.
In English, we've been reading and rewriting Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. To make sure we really understood the story, we created freeze frames of the key events.
To kick off our learning about the stone age, we became archaeologists and tried to figure out what some stone age artefacts might have been used for. We also created a human timeline which stretched across the whole playground!
The children all have access to a maths website called Mathsframe. They are able to access this website both at school and at home. They have all been given the same username and password.
If you have any suggestions for things we can put on this page, please let Miss White know!
