FAQ's
Do I need to meet the school admissions requirements or meet any necessary school admissions criteria to have a place at the Mill Nursery?
No. Places at the Mill Nursery are available to all children, regardless of where they live. We care for children aged from 4 months to 7 years of age and places are allocated on a first come first served basis. A child is placed on the waiting list in the order of the date on which a completed registration form is received by The Mill Nursery. The Mill Nursery reserves the right to prioritise places for children currently on role in the nursery and their siblings.
How do I apply for a place?
Download, complete and return the Registration form to book your child on our waiting list.
How long is the waiting list?
It is always a good idea to get your child’s name down as quickly as possible, especially if you have specific sessions in mind. Please always check our availability here with us at the Mill as people often assume that we have no availability when some spaces may have become available as requirements can and do often change throughout the academic year.
Are there a minimum number of sessions that my child needs to attend per week?
Children need to attend for a minimum of 2 sessions per week (a session is 1 morning or 1 afternoon - 1 full day a week consists of 2 sessions).
When is the best start date in the year?
Choosing your start date – Best time – The majority of places are allocated from the waiting list when spaces become available which is around the end of the academic year. The most likely time to get a place in the nursery (usually) is between July and September when our school leavers fly the nest. The most difficult time to get a place in nursery (usually) is January to April as there is not much movement at these times.
What is the waiting list policy?
A child is placed on the waiting list in the order of the date on which a registration form is received by The Mill Nursery. Please note that places are subject to availability and your registration does not guarantee you a place within the nursery. Places usually become available based on children leaving and are subject to room capacity. The Mill Nursery reserves the right to prioritise children already on role at the nursery and their siblings. The parent/carer is responsible for ensuring that we have up to date email/telephone and address details to ensure that contact can be made. Once a parent/carer has been offered a place for their child they will be given a deadline date to confirm the place. Failure to confirm the place by the deadline date will result in the place being offered to the next child on the waiting list. Please note that there is no automatic entry from nursery to St. Vigor and St. John Church School, normal school application systems apply.
Please contact the nursery if you have any further questions.
