Happy New Year!

Kindly be reminded that our class page includes a dedicated section for learning/homework support. This section offers various resources such as videos showcasing children completing homework, flashcards for tricky words, handwriting support and other helpful materials.

The children have the wonderful opportunity to go to Forest school sessions, which complement their learning in the classroom. Forest school is an outdoor education programme that takes place in a natural environment, such as a forest or woodland. During these sessions, the children engage in hands-on activities that promote exploration, creativity, and problem-solving skills. They learn about nature, wildlife, and the environment, while also developing their physical and social skills. Forest school sessions provide a break from traditional classroom learning and allow the children to connect with nature and experience the benefits of being outdoors. It is a valuable addition to their education, offering a holistic approach to learning and fostering a love for the natural world. Thank you to our leaders, Mrs Millard and Penny - they are fabulous!

In our writing sessions, we have been practicing the skill of independently composing simple sentences. We have been using our knowledge of phonics to sound out and break down words, as well as remembering the correct spelling of those tricky words. Additionally, we have been focusing on maintaining neat handwriting by consistently forming our letters and leaving appropriate spaces between words

Computing: We will be building a foundation of digital literacy and introducing children to the fundamentals of computing. children will be introduced to computing through a variety of hands-on activities and experiences. They will learn about basic computing concepts, such as algorithms and sequencing, and begin to explore different types of technology. Coding and programming will also be introduced through simple programs and games, teaching children how to give instructions and solve problems. Internet safety is emphasised, teaching children how to use technology responsibly and protect their personal information online.

During our math lessons, we have been focusing on mastering the correct formation of numbers and understanding the concept of place value, particularly when it comes to the teen numbers. We have also been practicing doubling numbers and writing corresponding number sentences to reinforce our understanding of addition.
