Team Dogwood

HISTORY
In Dogwood class, we've delved into the Stone Age, analysing ancient artefacts, speculating on their functions and origins. Moreover, we've designed tools and weapons and created cave paintings reminiscent of that era. I'm impressed by their enthusiasm and dedication to immersing themselves in the Stone Age, showcasing their impressive writing skills through self-written facts.

ENGLISH

We've dedicated time to reinforcing our phonics skills to enhance our spelling abilities. Children are utilising phonics mats for spelling checks, ensuring application in their writing. Emphasis has been placed on forming correct and effortless joins to reduce cognitive load, enabling focused writing on content. Appreciation goes out to parents supporting children with handwriting, spelling, and reinforcing learning at home - your efforts are truly appreciated.

We have  implemented colour semantics to aid in deepening comprehension of sentence structures. This method has facilitated sentence construction and extension, promoting the accurate use of punctuation.

MATH

In our math lessons, we have been reviewing the concept of place value for two-digit numbers, focusing on understanding the value of the tens and ones in a number. Progressing quickly, we have advanced to three-digit numbers and practicing our multiplication facts.

RE

We have been exploring how Jesus envisioned a world filled with kindness and compassion. Our class have brainstormed strategies to foster this environment. As part of this initiative, children have embraced a kindness challenge aimed at spreading positivity throughout our school community. These acts of kindness are documented on Our Kindness Tree.
