This term our Quest is 'Why is Chilcompton a special place?' So far, we have been on an exciting walk around the village to explore our local area, the places of interest within it and the people to help us within our community. We have used our findings to explore map making, creating artwork linked to Chilcompton and even becoming engineers by designing vehicles to road test in our outside area! The children have really embodied our schools ethical cornerstone, exploring the meaning of community and diversity with respect and kindness. Well done amazing Arum!
We are continuing to develop our reading skills, enjoying our daily phonics sessions and learning new sounds each week. Thank you to everyone who attended our recent phonics sessions, if you have any further questions regarding early reading, please to pop in and see us.
We are excited to share with you that we have started Drawing Club! Each week, the children explore a wonderful new piece of children's literature, so far looking at traditional tales, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs. They use the text as a stimulus for creativity, developing and innovating the story to explore early writing.
We already have a new book, written by the children, in our book corner that we are going to add their creations to each week, because in Drawing Club, we believe that all the children are authors!
